Natnemeton is a modern day Druid and a frustrated writer who lives a corporate life and a green life and manages to meld one into the other - amazingly successfully these days. She occasionally writes poetry and stories, goes to druid camps, is mother to a veg garden, a small annoying cat and two teenagers and enjoys the challenge of living with an atheist who is not backward at coming forward. Currently obsessed with renovating an old house and talking utter rubbish…
The banner picture was taken on the Ridgeway near Streatley Warren on the Berkshire/Oxfordshire border - in the far distance is Goring Gap and the River Thames - the sacred Tamesis - flowing like a great vein through the landscape. The Ridgeway is one of the most ancient trackways in Britain and walking it brings a magical connection with ancestral memory. The view symbolises the land I live upon and work within - where my energy and life are currently focussed. This is the land of the Atrebates, the people of the horse, who were centred on Calleva Atrebatum, near modern day Silchester. The relationship with the landscape and the spirits of place is of huge importance to Druids - and the vibrations of this particular landscape are never more evident than on the Ridgeway.
As ever, your narbled gonsense makes very entertaining reading. I laughed out loud at the description of the tent erection and was visioning the scene. I thought of you whilst out walking in the local countryside and passed a group of such tents. The growthful energy you sent to me in a previous email has taken effect across the miles as my tomato plants are climbing like the proverbial beanstalk. Their fragrance mingled with that of the basil and mint plants take me back to childhood memories of veggie picking and greenhouse chores. Long live the garden and the gardeners!
Thanks for the feedback - I am glad that you are able to grow this year after having to abandon crops last year - no doubt they are getting on better in the continental climate!
